About DSUK

Down Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a national charity passionate about empowering parents and professionals to improve the lives of those with Down syndrome and their families in the UK.

Where we stand

We want our children to be valued and included in the communities in which we live, to have the choice to attend their local mainstream school and when old enough to work; not to encounter barriers, but instead to be welcomed and embraced within society.

We aim to inform and educate as widely as possible to ensure that our children are able to become valued friends and colleagues without many outdated stereotypes and prejudices restricting friendships and working relationships.

Under the Down Syndrome UK umbrella, we have four key initiatives...

Providing information, support and resources to expectant, new and preschool parents.

0 – 4 years

Support Training & Resources for parents and professionals of those of school age.

4 – 11 years

Enabling children with Down syndrome to be toilet trained in time to start in pants4school!

0 – 5 years

A forum to help with promoting and supporting local Down syndrome support groups.

All ages

What we believe in

CARE

We believe every expectant and new parent should receive the best possible care and support.

CELEBRATION

We believe the arrival of every baby with Down syndrome should be celebrated.

OPPORTUNITY

We believe every child with Down syndrome should be given every opportunity to flourish and thrive.

EQUALITY

We believe in equality and that the discrimination around Down syndrome must be challenged and addressed.

To enact these beliefs, we have four core aims which underpin our work...
