Little Wights Clothing chooses DSUK as their 2025 Charity of the Year

We’re delighted to announce that Little Wights Clothing, a beautiful small business based on the Isle of Wight, has chosen Down Syndrome UK as their charity of the year for 2025. Behind this heartwarming partnership is a personal story.

Meet Jenna and her beautiful niece Hannah

Little Wights Clothing is the passion project of Jenna Garry, who creates bespoke handmade baby and toddler clothes with love and expertise gained from 12 years working in Early Years. But this isn’t just any clothing business – it was ignited from a love for her beautiful niece Hannah, who was born with Down syndrome.

Hannah’s arrival was “a complete surprise” to the family, and like many families in similar situations, they faced unexpected challenges. By the age of just two, Hannah had undergone two major chest surgeries, and the family navigated speech and language development alongside physical development milestones.

“Hannah has shed a lot of light for our family,” Jenna explains. “Without DSUK we as a family would not have had the knowledge, connections or support needed to get us and Hannah through some really difficult challenges.”

Discovering DSUK’s hidden impact

What struck Jenna most was how this “amazing charity flies completely under the radar” unless you have a direct connection with a child with Down syndrome. “DSUK is a fantastic charity that not many know about – it’s time that changed!” she says passionately.

Through her journey supporting Hannah, Jenna discovered a gap in the market that she’s uniquely positioned to fill. She learned that many children with Down syndrome are PEG fed, but adaptive clothing options are often “limited, expensive and let’s face it rather plain.”

Now, Jenna offers zip inserts in any of her clothing items for just £1 extra – a small addition that makes a huge difference to families. “This means money can be spent on the more meaningful things like days out with the family,” she explains.

Quality clothing that won’t break the bank

Little Wights Clothing stands apart in the handmade children’s clothing market. Using her Early Years background, Jenna carefully selects fabrics that aid rather than restrict child development:

  • Cotton jersey for rompers, tops, trousers and flutter sleeve dresses – soft, stretchy fabric that moves with the child.
  • Cotton and polycotton for dresses, shorts, skirts and dungarees – structured but non-restrictive.

“Who says comfort can’t be stylish!” Jenna believes. Her clothing ranges from 0-3 months to 5-6 years, with prices kept deliberately affordable – from just £10 to £22.50. As one regular customer puts it: “Champagne quality, Beer prices.”

Jenna maintains two key principles: she only uses fabrics from local and other small businesses (no major companies) and believes that “handmade items don’t need to cost the earth.”

A tradition of giving back

This isn’t Jenna’s first charitable venture. Little Wights Clothing began by raising money for Ronald McDonald House, who supported Hannah’s family during those crucial early surgeries. When Hannah was just 6 months old and her mum turned 30, the charity made the milestone extra special with a cake and card from Hannah – a gesture that clearly left a lasting impression.

In 2023, Jenna raised £500 for Ronald McDonald House. This year, she’s also supporting Mountbatten Hospice Isle of Wight and has already raised £250 through sunflower-themed items. “Every year that Little Wights Clothing is running, I will have a charity of the year so that I can give back to those amazing people who do so much for our local community.”
