Primary Education Programme

Our Primary Education Programme supports primary schools working with pupils with Down syndrome. Annual subscription to this programme starts from date of sign up and includes:

  • Ongoing Support: Regular online sessions with experts highly experienced in working with children with Down syndrome, and the opportunity to meet and share ideas with other schools.
  • Accredited Training: A CPD accredited online course covering the learning strengths of pupils with Down syndrome, strategies to promote inclusive practices, and guidance around differentiating the curriculum. The course is designed for SENCOs, teachers and teaching assistants and focuses on evidence-based guidance and education in schools.
  • Information: Access to practical information sessions and videos covering a range of education and health needs including developing literacy and numeracy, supporting hearing and vision difficulties, as well as supporting friendships and positive behaviour.
  • Resources: Including practical activities and examples to support learning across the curriculum as well as tools to target and measure individual progress.

Primary School Pack

Our Primary School Pack provides resources to educate and enlighten the practitioners who work with our children.

These include some of our own publications, leaflets, posters and information for you to share with your school setting.

Primary School support

We support the whole family – including Dads, Grandparents, Medical Professionals and Maternity Units.

We also support preschool settings, please ask your preschool professionals to join our group for advice, resources and training.

EHCP Support

EHCP online support groups – Our EHCP support Justine, is on hand to provide information and support around applying for and checking EHCPs in our closed Facebook groups.

EHCP support service – we are also able to offer half hour 1:1 sessions with Justine – these online sessions are for DSUK families who have a child in England who would value 1:1 support. During the session you can discuss a specific question or key concern around the EHCP process. After booking Justine will contact you to arrange a suitable day and time for the session – please allow half an hour for the session.

EHCP draft review service – Justine will fully review the draft EHCP and professional reports, followed by a two-hour call to discuss feedback. During this call, Justine will run through the EHCP with you to ensure you understand any issues with the draft so that you can put your parent representations effectively to the Local Authority. After booking Justine will contact to arrange a suitable day and time for your session – please allow up to two hours for the session.
