Together in 2026
We’re inviting you to take one small step this year. There are many ways to get involved, each rooted in connection and community. Choose one thing, go at your own pace – let’s begin the year together.
Wellbeing
January is a good time to pause and notice what you need. Wellbeing week is about creating space – for rest, movement, kindness and connection – without adding pressure or expectations.
You might join a mindfulness session, take part in TomFit, or dip into an Information Sharing Session or PADS Early Development Group. You might simply try one small daily kindness task, like going for a walk, listening to a favourite song, or saying no to something that drains your energy.
This week is a reminder that caring for yourself isn’t indulgent – it’s essential. Progress can be quiet. Rest can be productive. And even the smallest moments of kindness matter.
Challenge
If setting a goal helps you feel motivated, this week is for you. Turn energy, determination or hope into action – whether you’re taking part solo, with friends, or as part of a team.
From skydives on World Down Syndrome Day to the Three Peaks Challenge, Tough Mudder, bungee jumps, ultra hikes or the 21 Challenge, there are options for every level of ambition. You don’t need to be an athlete – just someone willing to try.
Challenges can be about pushing limits, honouring your child’s journey, or proving to yourself what’s possible. However you take part, every step helps create change.
Workplace
Many people want to help but don’t always know how to fit it around busy lives. Through your job, your colleagues and your organisation – you can make a real difference.
This week highlights opportunities for businesses to support DSUK, from sponsoring Thomley to choosing us as Charity of the Year or taking on team fundraising challenges like the Three Peaks, Wolf Runs or Tough Mudders.
If you’re someone who likes clear impact, shared goals and purposeful action, this is a powerful way to create change – while strengthening connection and wellbeing at work too.
Community
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Find ways to feel more connected – to DSUK, to other families, and to something bigger than yourself.
You might volunteer in a way that fits your life, such as knitting baby hats or bonding squares, welcoming parents in our online support groups, or helping someone feel less alone. You could join or host a Big PADS Push, take part in the Sunflower Challenge, or come along to an in-person event like our Easter Family Event or Golf Day.
Connection looks different for everyone. Whether you show up quietly or lead from the front, there’s a place for you here.
