Wellbeing

We value the importance of looking after our own wellbeing and so offer a range of activities we hope families will benefit from.

Counselling

For some new parents, it can take time to accept baby having Down syndrome. DSUK provides independent counselling from a professional counsellor with extensive relevant experience in a small group online format, an opportunity to share worries and concerns, in a non judgemental private supportive space.

Yoga

As part of promoting parental wellbeing, we arrange regular 6 week courses of online yoga sessions via Zoom with the very lovely Hayley, who is mum to two young men, one of whom has Down syndrome.

This is a brilliant opportunity to spend an hour a week relaxing and focussing on you!

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already enjoy yoga 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️

Hayley is very supportive and explains things clearly, encouraging you to enjoy the movements at entirely your own pace/level.

TomFit

Tom is a young chap training to be a fitness instructor.  He currently delivers online HIIT sessions to our families on a Sunday morning.  For more information please get in touch.

Online social sessions

Emily started delivering online sessions for young people with Down syndrome during the first lockdown. They were so popular, Emily has continued to offer these for young people with Down syndrome aged from 11 to 25 years.

They offer a social opportunity for young people from across the UK to meet and socialise on a weekly basis in a relaxed informal environment, chatting around a focus each session.

There are Disney sessions, film nights and in the run up to Christmas Strictly Come Dancing as well as monthly fun and boogie evenings and other seasonal events.

For further information please email emily.enoch@downsyndromeuk.co.uk.

Keep checking back as we add more wellbeing sessions!

We'd love to hear from you!
